Upon arrival at Hue's house, the first order of business was lunch. Hue and Ma pick out the rotten kernels and flick them to the chickens. Hue's family's nestegg was four fifty-pound sacks of locally-grown rice stored in the loft next to our bamboo sleeping mats.
